About four years ago I experienced a healing which beautifully illustrated and demonstrated the truth revealed in Christian Science. It did so much for me that I am glad to share its lessons with others.

For about eight years I had been subject to a weakness in the spine due to the strain of doing heavy lifting, and from time to time this condition had been troublesome. Then one day, when I was practicing driving a golf ball, as I swung the club there was a severe wrench to the spine which almost disabled me, so that I got home with difficulty and was obliged to lie down and remain in that position, not even rising for meals and apparently unable to stand upright.

For two days this deplorable state continued although I read from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, endeavoring to realize the truth for myself. On the third day, while I was studying, these words stood out forcibly (pp. 307, 308): "'Consciousness, where art thou? Art thou dwelling in the belief that mind is in matter?'" This so aroused me that I commenced thinking and audibly declaring that "I and my Father are one." It was uncovered to me that I had been looking to material sense, asking false belief whether I could turn in turn in bed, and what my ability was. A flood of spiritual realization came to me and tears of gratitude streamed down my face, and I was sure of my complete freedom. I was instantaneously healed, although I remained on the bed until my wife returned home, when I jumped up, lifted her in my arms and carried her through the house. This spiritual realization and gratitude which brought tears to the eyes brought also renewed strength.
