The Psalmist saith, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so."...
The Psalmist saith, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so." As one who has been redeemed by the gracious and merciful hand of God, I have hesitated long, yes, much too long, to say so.
My mother took up the study of Christian Science before my birth, and for thiry-nine years I have had this blessed teaching. I rejoice over the many happy days while I was a student in the Christian Science Sunday School. Numerous times the lessons learned there have stood me in good stead. During my childhood, many so-called children's diseases were healed through the application of the teachings of Christian Science. During young manhood I strayed away from this healing and saving truth and found myself in "a far country."
My return to the Father, a beautiful one, began one day in my office when I was stricken quite suddenly with a nervous collapse. This condition grew rapidly worse and I became obsessed with fear—fear so great that at times my emotions could scarcely be controlled. Among my clients at that time was a physician and surgeon, a splendid gentleman and one who was considered foremost in his profession. I turned to him for help. Everything possible from a material standpoint was done for me. After several months' treatment my condition seemed to be growing worse rather than better. At this stage the thought came to me, You have been healed many times by God through Christian Science, why not turn to Him now? I was awakened, and immediately consulted a Christian Science practitioner, threw away all material remedies, and began to study and apply Science. The battle was long, the nights seemed dark, the pathway steep and rugged, but the practitioner was patient, loving, and persistent. She proved, as our Leader assures us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 304), "that divine Love cannot be deprived of its manifestation, or object." The healing was complete and permanent.
