Precious Jewels

[Written Especially for Children]

Jewels always had a great fascination for the writer—just because she loved things that shone and sparkled. She can remember, when quite a little girl, receiving a gift of a diamond brooch. It was a lovely thing and gave her great joy.

"I shall take great care of this," she said. So it was put into a velvet-lined box and locked up in a desk, to be brought out and admired every day!

When this little girl grew up she became a Christian Scientist, and learned about jewels far more precious than all the diamonds in the world—good, true, and lovely thoughts. These are the real jewels, not cut and shaped and polished by any jeweler; never needing a material light to bring out their brightness; incapable of being stolen or lost, and never requiring a box or casket for safe keeping. Their perfection and beauty surpass the beauty of the most precious stones ever found in the earth. The reason is not hard to find. These precious jewels of thought come straight from God: they are His angels.
