One of the most beautiful of customs in that portion of the world not wholly given over to modern-day sophistication and unbelief in a mindful Father, is that in vogue for centuries and practiced by the Alpine herdsmen of Switzerland when the light of day is waning and the sun sinks in the golden west.

As the last rays of the orb of day are disappearing and are reflected on the white mountaintops, the herdsman, watching on the highest peak, raises his Alpine horn and calls out joyfully and loudly: "Praise the Lord God, praise the Lord God."
