Among the Churches

Current Notes

Pretoria, Transvaal, Union of South Africa (Second Church).—From Sunday, October 13, 1935, Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Pretoria, will hold services in the building which has been erected at the corner of South and Lawley Streets, Hatfield.

About five years ago it was felt that a church more conveniently situated for serving Brooklyn and Hatfield than the building in Du Toit Street was necessary. A number of Scientists from First Church, Pretoria, began to hold services in the Sons of England Hall, Hatfield. A building fund was inaugurated, and steady progress followed. A few months ago it was decided to commence the contemplated church buildings by erecting the Sunday school hall. This building consists of a hall twenty-five by forty feet, with two waiting rooms and four anterooms, and will be used for church services until the main church building is completed. The cost of the building is approximately eleven hundred pounds. A Christian Science Reading Room will be maintained in the new building.—Pretoria News.

Woodland, California (First Church).—Dedication of First Church of christ, Scientist, took place Sunday, July 1, 1934, at the church, 450 First Street, with special services in the morning and evening. The dedication of the church followed the completion of the payment of the church debt.
