Health
The discovery of the spiritual nature of health is included in the discovery of Christian Science, and the more clearly we understand the relation of discovery to demonstration, the more satisfyingly shall we prove this in practical ways. As the true nature of health is discovered, fear of disease lessens until it altogether disappears.
Health was never more nor less than spiritual, inviolable, universal. Health could not be destroyed without first destroying God. This admittedly cannot be done. Therefore the attempt of so-called mortal mind is to becloud humanity's understanding of God and man. It attempts to shake the spiritual faith of the Christian Scientist and divert his reliance upon Spirit and spiritual law to reliance on some so-called material remedy for functional or other difficulties. But since health is spiritual, Spirit provides all that is necessary for its establishment and continuity.
Mrs. Eddy writes, "The true consciousness is the true health" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 298). When health is persistently sought in God, divine Truth, through spiritual understanding, it is inevitable that health should appear in human experience. As we hold to the true nature of health, a healing takes place through Christian Science. We need to remind ourselves, however, that health needs no restoration, since it is spiritual and unalterable. What has happened to produce a healing in our experience is that the idea of health has, in a measure, been discerned and reflected.
