For a long time I have felt impelled to express my gratitude...
For a long time I have felt impelled to express my gratitude for all the good that I have received through Christian Science.
In 1913 I was suffering from tuberculosis. I had the best doctors in the vicinity, and they had done their utmost, but seemingly there was no help for me. I had four little children, and I thought, What will become of them when I am no longer here? In my great need I cried to God day and night, and my prayer was answered when a dear sister-in-law visited me and told me she had been healed by Christian Science. I knew nothing at all about this religion, but in my great need I grasped at it desperately. A friend got me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I read much, and the statement in the chapter on Prayer (p. 1), "The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God," at once assured me that God could heal me too.
Several times a day I read the ninety-first Psalm, and it seemed that the fifteenth verse must have been written especially for me: "He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him." God did indeed heal me in a very short time. His praise shall ever be in my mouth. With the help of my sister-in-law and by studying Science and Health I was healed in four weeks. One error after another disappeared.
