The love expressed by The Mother Church extends...
The love expressed by The Mother Church extends throughout the world, touching all humanity. I experienced this love some time ago while I was on a motor trip with friends, outside of this country, in a beautiful but isolated locality. One member of our party became seriously ill early one Sunday afternoon while we were at a primitive inn. No one in this inn or in the community had the slightest knowledge of Christian Science. Many, even, were unable to speak English. As a delay in our journey would cause complications, and as the member grew worse, we felt it advisable to have additional help, so we tried to telegraph home, only to discover that all communications were cut off.
At first this situation seemed alarming, but its very fearfulness forced us to rely absolutely on God. As we worked throughout the long hours of the night, reading our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. and praying and working as we are taught in Christian Science, my thought turned naturally towards home and The Mother Church.
I remembered how many testimonies of healing I had heard given in The Mother Church, how many persons had been lifted out of unpleasant experiences by simply reading from our textbook. I knew that every member of The Mother Church who is thinking the truth is thinking with God, in fact, every Christian Scientist all over the world who is thinking the truth is thinking with God. I realized, therefore, that we were not alone but were working with a mighty army, a heavenly host, establishing the glory of God on earth.
