I have always considered it a great privilege to testify...
I have always considered it a great privilege to testify to the truth of Christian Science, and it is with a heart full of gratitude that I send this testimony of the rich blessings that Christian Science has brought to me. Almost twenty years ago I came to California without hope and without God. I had come to the conclusion that all religions were alike. My son was in Science, and he gave me a copy of Science and Health, the first of which I had ever heard. I read it far into the night and could not bear to lay it aside. I had left my Bible back East, as I could not understand it. There had been so many things that I had asked about, but always I had been told I must not ask too much about them because they were a mystery. All these questions were answered in Science and Health, and when I had finished reading it I was healed of stomach trouble, from which I had suffered for years. The same was true of neuralgic headaches. I then subscribed for all the literature and have never since ceased to subscribe for it. I have never been in want; have always had abundance. I have always had my own home, and have been able to attend to all my household duties. I love the literature, and especially the Monitor, for the greater part of my healings have come from the religious articles published therein.
I recall that at one time I was suffering from sciatic rheumatism. It did not want to yield, but when I opened the Monitor the article was entitled "Stick to the Truth," and after reading it I was healed. That was over ten years ago, and the trouble has never returned. I realized then why our dear Leader gave us the literature. It is indeed our daily bread. The Monitor is also an education for anyone.
I was also healed of varicose veins. When in the East I had been laid up for months, as the veins had burst. A specialist had told me that the condition was liable to come back at any time, and that I must get rubber stockings and never go without them. When the trouble with the varicose veins returned with a vengeance, I had just built a new home and had neither neighbors nor telephone near. I thought, Well, it has come back to be healed in Christian Science. I tried binding the limb and finally put it up on a chair and started to read in Science and Health. I became very much interested and conscious of a wonderful uplifting, and when I was through I was healed, and the condition has never returned. That was after I had been in Science for only two years. The next day I made short work of the rubber stocking.
