Christian Science has helped me in every possible way,...
Christian Science has helped me in every possible way, and for this wonderful teaching which Mary Baker Eddy has given to the world I am profoundly grateful. I did not come into Science primarily for physical healing. For some years after leaving school, and with another member of my family, I attended higher thought meetings and theosophical and other lectures in a desultory manner. One Sunday I went to a service in a Christian Science church in London, and I decided then and there that this was the church I should always attend. I had found the truth. Since that time Christian Science has been "my rock and my fortress." Through applying what I have understood of its teachings I have found employment, comfort at a time of sorrow, and protection from danger.
I am particularly grateful for the following experience, which occurred soon after I came into Science. In the spring of 1919 war work came to an end, and with it my source of income. Current expenses had to be met, and a subscription was due to a branch of The Mother Church which I had joined. I had saved a small sum, but was fearful of spending it, as chances of further employment seemed remote, owing to lack of experience and an overcrowded market. In the working out of this problem in Science, the first thought that came to me was, Withhold not. So I paid my subscription and broke into my savings. At this time I was able to spend much time at some Christian Science Reading Rooms. One day, I had been studying the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly and pondering deeply over this problem of supply when, like a voice, there came to me these words: Supply is ever present. In this wonderful moment of spiritual illumination I understood—God is Love; Love is the source of all supply, and Love is ever present; God's child cannot lack. In a few days, and in a most unexpected and wonderful way, my needs were met an hundredfold. It would take too long to tell of the blessings which followed this proof of God's care, and I can never cease to be grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science and the author of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," for the literature, and for all the activities of The Mother Church.—
