Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

On taking up his duties, the Committee on Publication immediately sought opportunity to call upon the editors of every daily or weekly newspaper in the county. On these occasions great courtesy and kindness were shown him and the spirit of sincere friendship was apparent. This state of thought has been manifest on all subsequent calls.

Within a few days after beginning the work, the Committee found it necessary to write to the Weekly Scotsman in correction of the frivolous remark of a writer about "taking up bridge or Christian Science as a winter's hobby." Replies were accepted during the year by the Evening Dispatch, the Edinburgh and Leith Observer, and the Portobello Advertiser.

During the period under review all the lectures given by this church have been printed in full in the Edinburgh and Leith Observer.
