Brother!

Have you come to the Red Sea, brother,
Are you stricken with fear and dread?
Is a sinister foe behind you?
Are the white-fanged waves ahead?
Oh, think it not strange, this trial,
Nor affrighted stand at the shore,
For an answer of peace is given
By one who has gone before.
Lift up the rod of Moses,
The faith that visions and saves;
Brother, the Lord is mightier
Than the noise of many waves!
Go not backward, but onward,
And strengthen your faltering heart
Till overpast is the terror;
Then, brother, the waves will part!
