We much underestimate the importance of the quiet life. We are so busy that we simply have not time to think and meditate, and so our soul is impoverished and in the long run our usefulness is impaired.

Moses spent forty years in the land of Midian before he was ready for his great work. Paul retired into Arabia and was there three years before he was ready for his strenuous campaign of service. They had to find time to grow their souls, and to become possessed with reserves of power.
