Healing in Christian Science

Within the room a holy peace is found—
   The promise of a hope to be fulfilled;
And she who rests here, though by error bound,
   In patience waits until the lie is stilled.
A sick room this? Nay—'tis a place to feel
   The All of good to conquer every foe,
To see the Christ prove fleshly ills unreal,
   God's presence and His healing love to know!
No fear is here, as in those days before
   The precious truth we used to make men free,
But understanding, whereby thought may soar
   Above the mist, and claim Christ's victory.
And she who looks to God is not distressed,
   Nor asks complaining, "Why this troubled dream?"
Instead, she prays, "God's works be manifest!"
   And courage lifts her song in faith supreme;
And, lo! the dear ones waiting through the night
   Behold the dawn that endeth error's lies.
With grateful hearts proclaiming Spirit's might,
   They see the sun of righteousness arise!
