Having, for over nine years, received many blessings through the study and application of Christian Science, I take this opportunity to acknowledge my gratitude.

I did not take up the study of this Science for any physical healing, but because I was seeking a religion to teach my young son, thinking, if possible, to enrigh his life thereby. I had observed that the Christian Scientists I knew appeared to have a religion applicable to their daily needs, and that they were a happy people with a desire to do right. So I secured a Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and studied very earnestly for many months.

About a year later, due to worry, a false sense of responsibility, resentment, and self-pity, I was seized with a nervous ailment and heart trouble. Obtaining no help from medical or chiropractic treatment, as a last resort I turned unreservedly to Christian Science and asked a practitioner for help. The reason I had not asked for help sooner was that I thought a practitioner could not help me unless I had faith, and I thought of myself as a skeptic. However, I learned that the practitioner did not demand faith of me, but a listening ear, and a willingness to study. From the time I turned to a practitioner my progress was rapid. As false beliefs were corrected, the physical ailments disappeared. The healing of heart trouble came very quickly as my fear of death lessened through the realization that being is continuous. The nervous condition required more time.
