Companionship

Seems lone the path, and drear with shadows deep,
Your progress hindered by a throng of fears,
Obscured the vision in a blur of tears,
So overwhelmed by sorrow that you weep?
Tis not alone you climb the mountain steep,
For close beside you through the testing years,
An unseen presence constant watch doth keep,
At every step; that guards and guides and cheers,
Assuring of right's triumph over wrong,
The certain doom of error's seeming sway,
Revealing joys for which you truly long,
That promised peace for which you yearning, pray;
Oh, keep within your heart perpetual song,
Since Love is with you all the upward way.
