My introduction to Christian Science came one day when...
My introduction to Christian Science came one day when I found myself in a Christian Science Reading Room where the book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was lent to me. From the depths of despair I was led into the harmony of real being, given a practical and demonstrable religion, and with the help of a consecrated practitioner I have been steadily and certainly lifted away from the troublesome and unsatisfactory mental state that had formerly burdened me. I was led into this Science by an impulsion not my own, and I have had cause to be grateful ever since. It is doing for me what everything else had failed to do; and a life that appeared to be hopeless has been restored to one of helpfulness and happiness, with the added knowledge and joy that that which is revealed to me cannot be taken from me.
Through absent treatment by a practitioner I was healed of a nasty skin disease which had made me fearful, as it had manifested itself on my body in an alarming manner. I wrote to a friend and asked him to help me, and I was healed within a few days. In seeming vicissitudes the sincere application of the little of Christian Science that has been revealed to me has at all times been instrumental in guiding me away from the very condition of thought that was making for discord.
Early in the study of Science I was completely healed of the need of wearing glasses, without any specific work being done for defective eyesight. I have not the faintest recollection of when I actually left off wearing the glasses; but only when a practitioner and friend made mention of the fact that I was seeing more clearly did I realize that not only had I discarded my glasses, which I had worn for a considerable period, but I had no more use for them. Great was my joy, because with the glasses went many fears; a nervous condition that made my life a torment was also healed. Never since then have I been bothered with my eyes.
