The book, "Mary Baker Eddy: A Life Size Portrait," by Dr. Lyman P. Powell, has, since its issue in 1930, had an extended circulation, not only in English-speaking countries, but in other countries of the globe. The first translated version was that in Swedish, issued in 1933. Next was issued a German version. Recently a Dutch version of the book was published in Holland. And now there is under preparation a French edition.

That this book has done much good since it was first issued in English is unquestionable, and its readers are grateful to its author for his fair evaluation of Mrs. Eddy's character and work. They are grateful for his open-mindedness; his lack of bias although he is an honored minister of the Episcopal Church. They recognize his genuine respect and love for that which is good and spiritual.

Recently Dr. Powell took advantage of the opportunity offered him, through the retirement plan of the Episcopal Church, to be released from active work after many years of faithful and valued service. Always a writer, his intention is to devote himself more fully to his literary and educational work. Speaking recently in St. Petersburg, Florida, he is quoted as having said in effect, "Not by legal methods but by spiritual education may the conserving of democratic government in this country be brought about."
