It is about twelve years since Christian Science was first brought to my notice by a friend. At that time I was suffering from tuberculosis of the throat and lungs. I had tried everything that materia medica had to offer, and the verdict of the specialist was that I had only three months to live. I was at the same point as was the woman who "had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered." It was in this state of thought, miserable, depressed, and discouraged, that I attended a Christian Science lecture. During the lecture my thought was so lifted from self that I gleaned somewhat of God's healing power, and I at once inquired where I could procure the textbook by Mrs. Eddy; then I began my journey Spiritward. Much fear had to be overcome to enable me to see that materia medica's false law of incurability and doom is rendered null and void by God's law of health and life.

I am grateful for our Leader's statement in Science and Health (p. 167), "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized," and that all through the years my husband, our two daughters, and I have relied solely on Christian Science for help in time of need. Just here I give thanks to God for practitioners. Another healing which stands out was of a serious condition of the leg, diagnosed as phlebitis, the aftereffect of an operation which I had had before knowing of Christian Science. For years I had worn a bandage and had been told it would be very serious if my foot were put to the ground without it. One morning, before rising, I took myself to task and thought of the wonderful healing received previously, yet of how I was willing to depend on a bandage for my walking, instead of on God; and these words from the textbook came to my thought (Pref., p. vii): "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." I saw clearly that to-day was "now," and without telling the members of my family, I put the bandage away and rose up free.

I have received and witnessed many more healings, including those of a fractured wrist, loss of voice, depression, poisoning, influenza, and appendicitis.
