Immanuel

I know I cannot go beyond God's presence and His care,
Although upon uncharted seas I drift to isles afar;
My course I cannot lose, though storms arise, nor dawn is there,
For God doth guide—and God is ever where His children are.

No height can I attain but in His ever-boundless love,
Although on upward wing I fly beyond the farthest star;
No depth descend, but still enfold—beneath, around, above—
His arms of love—for God is ever where His children are!

No day is fair, but that His loving presence makes it so;
No night so dark and starless, but there gleams His love afar
To light the way about me, with peace and joy of heavenly glow;
I need but know—that God is ever where His children are!
