We do well to remind ourselves occasionally of our valued membership in The Mother Church; of what it calls for in us; of what it offers to all. Just as the applicants are to be "Christians, and faithful, loyal students of the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (Church Manual, Art. VI, Sect. 2), so the members are to keep that requirement before them continuously. In the pages of this textbook, together with the Holy Bible, are to be found the answers to all problems needing solution. The faithful study of these books has healed and regenerated thousands; and every sincere seeker for Truth is welcomed into this company of loyal students comprising The Mother Church membership, whose lives are blessing humanity in the way Christ Jesus taught.
In remote corners of the world those Christians who have become faithful students of the textbook of Christian Science can rejoice in becoming, through membership, part of the organization "designed to be built on the Rock, Christ" (Manual, p. 19). One of these, living in Morocco, Africa, who knew no teacher of Christian Science or other person qualified to countersign her application, wrote to the Clerk of The Mother Church and received the help which enabled her to fulfill her wish for membership. After she was admitted she wrote in part: "Deeply touched by the great privilege you gave me to become a member of The Mother Church, I express to you my profound gratitude for my election. In great humility I had consecrated my life for Christian Science, and my only desire is to understand more and better the spiritual life, in order to be a useful member, who can demonstrate the power of Truth as our so beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has taught us. Allow me to profit by this opportunity to send to each member of the Board my best thanksgiving for the great work they do. In so far-away a land, so far away also from right thinking, and absolutely alone as a Christian Scientist, I can appreciate the wonderful gift and help they give us with the Lesson-Sermons, the periodicals and Items. ... The human field needs so much workers, in order that the 'glory of God' may be manifest."
