During the more than twenty-five years in which I have studied Christian Science there have been healings of burns, scars, sprains, pneumonia, blood poisoning, loss of voice, constipation of many years' standing, defective vision, fainting, and fear of tuberculosis and Bright's disease after the passing on of two loved ones from these diseases. Love of gossip, ingratitude, a tendency to faultfinding, and impatience, have also been overcome.

At one time glasses which I had worn for several years became unbearable, and the oculist said new ones could not be fitted until my eyes changed as I grew older. The work of a Christian Science practitioner eliminated the fear of removing the glasses, caused by the medical laws laid down, and I discarded them. They were ground thick in one part and thin in others to correct what the oculist summed up as "the highest error in the refraction of light" which could be. Several years later I tried on those glasses only to find that they seemed opaque. I am grateful to the practitioner who in one treatment so completely destroyed the fear of removing the glasses that although friends and relatives repeatedly begged me to put them on again I was enabled to hold the position gained and to go on to complete freedom, which has been maintained for more than twenty years.

Another outstanding demonstration of God's all-power was made through my own understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him. I had been studying for twelve months in our state university, and had been asked to teach half days in a private school, which teaching would enable me to attend the university and secure a master's degree. However, the teaching I was doing was not my specialty, nor a subject I felt capable of teaching well; consequently it seemed wrong for me to continue. One morning as I was studying the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, the reference, "Pray without ceasing," from the Bible stood out clearly. I reasoned: "What is prayer? It 'is the heart's sincere desire.' I do sincerely desire to be every moment where God wants me to be, and my only existence is in Mind, God. Since all existence is in the one Mind, He can bring me and my position together, for in reality both exist together now in Mind. Even if it comes to five minutes before time for school to open I cannot be forced into a position which is not mine in Mind." Having gained my peace regarding the situation I went to the university library to study. Upon my return home a college professor under whom I had studied invited me to a position in a state university, which position gave me many joyous hours of teaching just the work for which I was especially prepared. This invitation came wholly unsought by me.
