From the Field

[Extracts from Semiannual Report of Committee on Christian Science Work in the Army and Navy at Los Angeles, California]

During the past six months the worker has come in contact with many men in the service and among these gave treatment to approximately two hundred and fifty men interested in Christian Science. To many of these Christian Science was unknown until it came to them through the visits of the worker.

The following are brief excerpts of letters received by the worker and the committee: A sailor on board the U. S. S. Lexington writes: "I have been keenly interested in the Christian Science Sentinel and other periodicals that appear in our ship's library every so often, and I believe it has given me a new outlook toward life, partly because it has eased a mental strain that has been robbing me of my sleep. I am determined to read Mary Baker Eddy's 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.'" From an inmate of Soldiers Hospital at Sawtelle: "First I want to thank you and all concerned for the treatments and literature which you so kindly gave me while confined in the Soldiers Hospital in Sawtelle. I for once in my life am going to make a stand for God through Christian Science. I left the hospital yesterday and went to the services this morning."
