The Lambs and the Sheep

Lovest thou me? Then feed my lambs,
The loving Master said.
Oh, little feet that long to stand,
But need the strength of a steadying hand,
Love guides, be not afraid!

Lovest thou me? Then feed my sheep.
And who are the sheep, dear Lord?
The faithful ones who have toiled all day,
Who have loyally labored to keep Christ's way,
That others may have God's Word.

Lovest thou me? Then feed my sheep—
Twice this latter command!
Gratitude, trust, and protection are due
The faithful who stood when disciples were few:
Ah! Jesus could understand.
