Overcoming Limitation

[Original article in Hungarian]

In the wake of the belief in the reality of matter, limitation is accepted as a fact the world over. Unless it is corrected by a right understanding of God and the universe, this false belief tends to affect our everyday experiences and our thoughts about ourselves and our surroundings.

How often does the belief of limitation hinder our work and slow down our progress, until it is properly handled with the truth and destroyed! Because man is the reflection of God, the infinite One, his abilities, which are the reflection of infinite intelligence, are not limited. Mrs. Eddy writes (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 223), "The fetters of man's finite capacity are forged by the illusion that he lives in body instead of in Soul, in matter instead of in Spirit."

Is not our seeming limitation the result of the belief of personal possessions? We speak of "our abilities," "our health," "our supply," and so on, instead of recognizing that man has no possessions of his own apart from God, but reflects all that originates in God. It is not only we ourselves who suffer from this erroneous thinking, for often we help to fasten the fetters on our fellow men through this same false belief. How helpful it would be to ourselves and to others if we would refuse to accept the lies of limitation and uphold in our thinking the fact that the real man reflects God, good, and nothing else!
