Spiritual Renewal

The changes which are taking place in the world during these days are too momentous to leave any thoughtful observer unmoved. To the Christian Scientist looking out upon these "signs of the times" there comes the reassuring message which Mrs. Eddy embodies in these words (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 401): "What I term chemicalization is the upheaval produced when immortal Truth is destroying erroneous mortal belief. Mental chemicalization brings sin and sickness to the surface, forcing impurities to pass away, as is the case with a fermenting fluid."

It is possible to look on the disturbed world conditions as they appear today as symptoms of "mental chemicalization" caused by the increasing perception by mankind of the nature of God, "immortal Truth."

Even to sincere Christian Scientists, earnestly seeking to progress spiritually, the upheaval produced by Truth sometimes seems to bring bitter experiences; but later, when they look back upon these experiences, they see that each experience rightly faced furthered growth Spiritward in a way deemed impossible at the time.
