Six years ago my husband and I felt a great need for correct guidance in life and desired that our son be taught spiritually. We had attended several churches, but none seemed wholly satisfactory. My mother had taught me to leave problems with God, so I waited to be shown the way. Within two weeks we were guided to Christian Science and have rarely missed a service since. Almost immediately we were called upon to choose between materia medica and Christian Science. Our son, while undressing, stepped on a needle, embedding it deeply in his foot. We were able to get but half of it out, so I called a practitioner, asking if Christian Science could be used in such a case. Her quick, assuring answer was, "All things are possible to God." When I talked with her again, she explained the impossibility of one piece of unintelligent matter harming another, and referred me to the sentence in our textbook which reads, "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive" (Science and Health, p. 463). In two days the rest of the needle was found in the child's stocking.
Before my marriage I was employed in a business which required the constant use of my voice. Under certain climatic conditions I completely lost all power of speech, and many days were spent away from business because of this condition. The first time I asked for Christian Science help I was permanently healed, when it was pointed out to me that there is but one voice, the voice of Truth.
During the past few years we have been protected financially in a manner of which human planning could never have conceived. For the understanding which frees us from false beliefs, for the joy of witnessing the destruction of various forms of erroneous conditions, for the Christian Science Sunday School, wherein our children are taught to think spiritually, and for membership in The Church and a branch church, I give sincere thanks.
