The attitude of the secular press continues friendly. Not a single criticism of our religion has appeared there during the year; but a rather bitter attack was made on our Leader and on Christian Science in the magazine of an independent missionary. The letter sent in answer had some healing effect, for the missionary gladly accepted Dr. Powell's biography of Mary Baker Eddy, read it, and replied, "Although this book does not answer my particular objections to the business methods of the late Mrs. Eddy, it does clear up a number of points upon which I had not yet found authoritative data, and so makes it much easier for me to hold a high opinion of Christian Science itself."

The American newspaper of Tokyo, the Japan Advertiser, published on Easter Sunday, for the first time, a Lesson-Sermon excerpt. "Reality" was the subject, bringing before the Christian community the Christian Science interpretation of resurrection.
