In your issue of April 6, under the head "Atheism," a correspondent mentions certain atheistic theories as giving "rise to widespread belief to myriads of mankind that the Bible is not true," and he includes in his statement a reference to Mrs. Eddy's ideas regarding sin which calls for correction. It is true that Christian Science teaches that there is no sin, in the sense of sin's being unreal because of its self-destructive nature, and because not created or supported by God, good; but that teaching is strictly in accord with the Scriptures, and the Christian Science explanation of sin leads to its overcoming and has the effect of strengthening one's faith in the Bible rather than otherwise.

All of the "ideas" of Mary Baker Eddy are based upon the teachings of the Bible, which her followers use as a textbook. Those who are at all informed know that the influence of her teachings does not belong in the same category with that of the Tom Paines and the Voltaires.
