Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

In this field a marked change has come over popular opinion as reflected by the press, inasmuch as there has been not one occasion for a corrective letter to be sent for publication. Excerpts from our weekly Lesson-Sermons have been prepared in advance and furnished to all the newspapers willing to accept them for publication. The length of these excerpts varies according to the amount of space editors will allow. Five weekly papers have been supplied in this way, and one monthly magazine prints brief excerpts for the whole of the month of issue. Also, your Committee being instructed to care for the correct insertion of the weekly church notices for First Church of Christ, Scientist, Bulawayo, in the Bulawayo Chronicle, the opportunity is taken to insert the subject of the Lesson-Sermon and brief quotations from the Bible and our textbook each week.

The Christian Science Monitor has been again subscribed to on the "exchange-for-advertising" plan by two newspaper editors. One of these editors, in Northern Rhodesia, in response to a question whether he wished to continue his exchange subscription, wrote as follows: "We shall be pleased to continue the arrangement whereby we receive free copies of the Monitor in return for advertising space to amount representing a year's subscription as long as you like. In other words, for our part, the arrangement can be continued from year to year at your pleasure."

Several articles from the Monitor have been printed or quoted and full credit given our newspaper.
