In a recent issue of the Dominion a correspondent, who signed himself "Tohunga," claimed that the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, contradicts itself when it makes the assertion on page 468, "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind," and on the same page defines Truth and tells what matter is.

Has the reverend gentleman ever realized that there is actually no such thing as a lie? A lie is a negation of a truth. An original lie is unthinkable. A lie must always have a truth to negative. Yet a lie is frequently believed and passed on from one to another as a fact, until the truth is perceived and accepted, upon which the lie ceases to be anything at all, and is at once rejected as an illusion. Paul said to the Corinthians, "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."

Science, in its truest sense, is not human knowledge, but the wisdom and knowledge of God, and when the human understanding is sufficiently enlightened to grasp this, Science will be found to be in strict accord with the Word of God. Mankind have got to bring their thought into line with God's truth, not to make that truth fit their own theories; and until mankind generally reach this understanding, the existing chaotic world conditions will continue.
