So great a number of blessings, so many evidences of...
So great a number of blessings, so many evidences of God's tender love, protection, guidance, and healing, have been bestowed upon me that it becomes difficult to select a single experience in Christian Science and say, "This means the most to me." Rather, all these proofs of the substantiality of things unseen are woven together in a seamless garment of praise which constitutes my faith. In witnessing to the truth, I select as my testimony, therefore, an experience which I pray will encourage someone to depend altogether upon God. On page 167 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes, "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized."
Nine years ago, when I was a senior in a university, I became extremely worried about my future after I should leave school. I had little idea as to what I wanted to do, and it seemed to me that what I had learned in my studies would be of little use. I did not know enough of Christian Science to understand how to combat this state of anxiety and fear; but in connection with a physical problem, which seemed even more disturbing, I prayed fervently to God for a deeper understanding of Him, and for opportunities to dedicate myself to serving Him with all my heart and in every way I could discover. I applied for membership in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and shortly after becoming a member, accepted the position of Sunday school teacher and also of usher. I found myself completely freed from the burden of worry and fear for my future.
Through the radical step on my part—that of resolving to give my whole thought to serving God—I had been led to the solution of the problem of right employment. In recognizing that my work is reflecting God, and that I have no other, I discovered what is the metaphysically true nature of all work. My thinking became more closely allied with divine Mind, I was ready for a greater unfoldment of good, and thus within two weeks of the close of the school year I found myself in a kind of work which gave me ample opportunity to use and share all that I understood of Truth—employment far more satisfying than any I had considered before I began to work for God. When anyone prays,
