My heart goes out in gratitude to one who, many years ago, when I entered her home to nurse another in my capacity as a medical nurse, was not afraid to leave Christian Science literature about. Only once during the month I was there did she say anything about Christian Science to me, and that was to tell me about a healing she had had; and I occasionally glanced at a Sentinel. My interest was not roused then, but the seed was sown. A few years later, while nursing the wounded during the war, I had a nervous breakdown. It was during this time, when I felt that medicine was not helping me, that I was prompted to write and ask this good lady if she thought Christian Science could do so. She soon put me in the right path, and I was back at work much sooner than the doctors had decreed. From the day the practitioner started to help me, I have not taken any kind of medicine. I may add here that I shall always remember with keenest appreciation the love and kindness shown me during my medical experience.

I have had many experiences of healing. Once when I was on a maternity case, and the baby was only eight days old, I broke a wrist. This was healed without the use of sling or splint; and after the first evening I had no pain. In the days before my interest in Christian Science, I should probably have had to leave the case at once, whereas, in this instance, it was wonderful how I was able to carry on. I have also been healed quickly of colds, a wart, a sprained ankle, and chicken-pox, every symptom of which disappeared by the second day. I have also experienced protection from contagion, for Christian Science is protective as well as curative, and have had many proofs of God's presence. In Christian Science we learn that nothing can separate man from the protecting and sustaining love of God, and as one becomes more alert in claiming this unity with God, good, all that is not good will gradually fade from experience.

I am very grateful for the teachings of Christian Science, and for all the activities of our great Cause; and I am especially grateful for the way the Scriptures become illumined through study, enabling one to prove the practical nature of the truth as Jesus taught and proved it. My humble desire is to follow faithfully the footsteps of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and to be active in bearing witness to the truth, which is equal to the overcoming of all the ills and troubles of humanity, when it is conscientiously and persistently applied.
