Innumerable blessings have come to me during the last twenty-three years through the application of the teachings of Christian Science.
The first physical healing I experienced was that of impaired eyesight. I had worn glasses for a number of years and had been told that I should always have to wear them, but after a very careful study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was able to discard them. From birth I had suffered from indigestion and stomach trouble, which at times had been manifested in a very serious form. These diseases, with repeated attacks of tonsillitis, kept me in a depleted physical condition, but through continued study of Christian Science these disorders were overcome.
But the direct cause of my investigating this teaching was the hope that I might be healed of musician's paralysis, with which I had been suffering for almost two years. During this time both arms were carried in slings. I could neither dress nor feed myself. Several of the most eminent specialists in the United States had pronounced this condition incurable. While in the depths of despair the thought kept recurring to me, Why was it that God loved the people in olden times more than at the present time, for then He gave Jesus and his followers power to heal by spiritual means those afflicted with incurable diseases? On page 1 of the Christian Science textbook we find these words: "Desire is prayer." So my desire for spiritual healing was fulfilled when a friend presented Christian Science to me with the assurance that this teaching revealed the Christmethod of healing as taught and practiced by Jesus and his followers. Consequently I very eagerly commenced the study of Christian Science and earnestly endeavored to utilize the understanding I was gaining in every thought and act, with the result that through my own study, and two treatments from a Christian Science practitioner, this discordant condition was completely healed.
