I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the many...
I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the many blessings received through Christian Science. I was a member of an orthodox church for two years, but was not satisfied with its teachings, and prayed each day for some light on the subject of religion. Christian Science was presented to me by an uncle, who had been greatly benefited by its healing ministry. During my first conversation with a practitioner I was thoroughly convinced that this was the same religion which Christ Jesus taught and practiced. With the aid of this practitioner I was healed of lung trouble when both lungs were diseased and one was half gone. I was instantaneously healed of the fear of this disease, and in a short time the physical manifestation disappeared. I have also been healed of an inflamed appendix, an inward growth which had continued since childhood, and a very offensive rupture of seven years' duration. Physicians told me it would be necessary to have a three-in-one operation for these three diseases, one physician stating that although an operation was the only cure, he would not insist upon it, for, owing to an organic difficulty, I might not survive the operation.
Since then, over seventeen years ago, God has been our only physician in a family of three. Many other healings have been realized, including those of blood poisoning, measles, chicken pox, tonsillitis, bowel trouble, and sick headaches. I experienced a painless childbirth, after being told by physicians that it would be impossible to live through childbirth. A healing which stands out clearly came during a so-called influenza epidemic. My husband and I came under this belief and were quickly relieved through Christian Science treatment. A very dear relative passed on with the same trouble. I attended the funeral service, and those who knew of the experience through which I had just passed said that I should not have gone out so soon. A few hours after returning home I seemed to be suffering from a relapse, and was confined to my bed in a critical condition. One night about midnight a strange feeling came over me. The suggestion of death presented itself, but immediately the thought came to me that the law of God was operating and this law could not fail. I then fell asleep and awoke the next day, healed. I cannot tell how thankful I was to have this truth to lean upon in that hour of need. In about a week I was able to be about my housework as usual. This experience also proved to me the necessity of protecting ourselves from wrong thoughts.
I am thankful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, also for the privilege of teaching in the Sunday school; grateful to the kind practitioner for the aid which was so lovingly given; to God, to Christ Jesus; and to our revered Leader for her wonderful revelation of the Christ, Truth, to this age.
