I consider it not only a duty and a privilege to give a testimony of the wonderful experiences I have had in Christian Science, but also a glorious opportunity to count my blessings. My interest was first aroused more than twenty-eight years ago when I sought Christian Science as a healing agency after I had been ill for over eight months with what doctors claimed was rheumatism of the heart and lung trouble. While these ailments were very slow in yielding, I had many other healings. I am grateful because it gave me the opportunity to study more earnestly in order to gain the spiritual understanding I so much needed. I knew nothing about God as a God of love or that He does not send sickness and all other ills to punish mankind.
With the help of practitioners I have been healed of many discords, mental, moral, and financial. I have been healed of heart and lung troubles, of chest and head colds, tumors on the spine, indigestion, and a severe burn on an arm, for which only one treatment was given, and the pain disappeared in an hour. The arm was completely healed in a few days without the tiniest scar being left. I was also healed in two treatments of a poisonous condition on my arms, of fear of lack or limitation, and of many faults of disposition, temperamental qualities, resentment, criticism, and fear of everything; and I am learning to watch my thinking and not to talk too much.
During this period of earnest study I gradually began to see more clearly that God, Mind, is complete and perfect; that the universe and all therein contained is complete and immortal now. I have been healed of great loneliness through the realization of this thought from Science and Health, (p. 254): "Pilgrim on earth, thy home is heaven; stranger, thou art the guest of God." I have been protected in times of accident by the realization of the truth in this statement: "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms."
