I began my study of Christian Science in the Sunday school, and for this privilege I have been very grateful. Shortly after leaving the Sunday school I became a member of a branch church, where I have been afforded opportunities to serve in many ways, and rendering these services has brought a great deal of joy to me.
I have experienced protection and many healings through the application of Christian Science. Two of these healings, which were instantaneous, have been especially appreciated. One evening I felt the severe pains of pleurisy, and as I could hardly think clearly I decided to call for help from another student of this Science. I did not reach him in my first attempt at the telephone, but my sister finally got in touch with him some thirty minutes later. Meanwhile I was endeavoring to read from The Christian Science Journal, when I suddenly felt release from pain, and the next moment my sister came into the room to announce that help had been reached. There has never been any suggestion of this disease since that time.
The other instantaneous healing was of intense fear. The woods behind our home were on fire, and the wind was blowing the flames directly toward us. We attempted to fight it materially, with the help of three firemen, but made no headway. I felt the immediate need for divine help and stopped all human action, and declared God's omnipotence over all, including fire. The wind changed at once, and the fire burned itself out in a near-by field with no damage to anyone.
