The report of "Questions and Answers" calls for correction...

Medicine Hat News

The report of "Questions and Answers" calls for correction, as the references to a modern sect no doubt refer to Christian Science, and are very misleading.

Christian Science ministers to those in pain and suffering with the most Christly consideration, compassion, and helpfulness. This is clear from the following passage in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (pp. 365, 366): "The poor suffering heart needs its rightful nutriment, such as peace, patience in tribulation, and a priceless sense of the dear Father's loving-kindness."

Hardship and suffering naturally lessen as one undergoes the healing transformation St. Paul urges in Romans, "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind." As one turns more and more to Christ in Christian Science for this spiritual renewal and transformation, and the solution of all problems, the sublime character, experience, and example of our Saviour are understood. He himself said we must heed his instructions, which include his command to heal the sick. As we do this and alleviate human suffering we are prepared to appreciate rightly his experience in Gethsemane and on Calvary, his forgiveness of human brutality sponsored by ecclesiastical enmity, and his further exaltation in resurrection and ascension.
