Power from on High
To the inspired writings of Holy Writ, Christian Scientists turn for exalted examples of Christian living. The Bible, with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, is their guide and pastor. By intensive study of these books, and imbibing the spirit of them, one is equipped with a demonstrable understanding of divine power, the power from on high; and the way is thus made plain whereby all may dwell in peace and harmony.
At the close of the brief prayer—the Lord's Prayer—given by Christ Jesus to his disciples is the assurance that to God belong "the kingdom, and the power, and the glory," and that these endure "for ever." With acceptance of this truth, thought is lifted out of a timid and constricted reluctance to lay hold of and demonstrate this power, and to gain the protection which is ours by divine right; for nothing but wrong thinking and sluggishness can hinder the advancement of those seeking the reign of harmony. Right desires lead heavenward.
To Jesus was given the divine mission to demonstrate the law of God which annuls all ignorant and unjust laws, removes the mask of materiality, and reveals the glory of His handiwork. To Mrs. Eddy was given the priceless privilege of revealing the Science and healing art of this divine power. Through this dual demonstration all weary wanderers in the desert of false education, dulled by the clamor of personal sense, are enabled, as of old, to hear the clarion call of Christ, Truth, which brings to mankind the message of deliverance from the bondage of sickness, the slavery of limitation, and from belief in the necessity of sin.
