From the Field

[Extracts from the Annual Report of the Prison Committee of the State of New York]

Christian Science services have been conducted each Sunday and testimony meetings have been held once a month in the following institutions: Auburn, Clinton, Great Meadow, Sing Sing, State Prison for Women, and Elmira Reformatory. The State Prison for Women at Bedford Hills was established during the summer by the transfer of inmates from Auburn Women's Prison. Since October 8, services have been held regularly at this institution.

During the past year a lecture was held at each of the above-mentioned institutions with the exception of the State Prison for Women. The lecture at Sing Sing was particularly well attended, over three hundred men being present. Many expressions of gratitude for the lectures have been received.

Thanksgiving services, held in each of the above institutions, were very well attended and filled with testimonies of gratitude. At Elmira Reformatory over one hundred and fifty young men were present. At Great Meadow a schoolroom had been assigned for the service, but when the bugle was sounded so many inmates presented themselves that it became necessary to transfer the service to the chapel.
