"God is light"

[Written Especially for Children]

One evening a little girl went with her mother to call on a Christian Scientist. The mother said as the woman greeted her, "We can stay but a few minutes, for my little girl is afraid of the dark, so we must get home before night falls."

Now these two had many things to say to each other, for they wished to talk about God and His wonderful goodness to the children of men. So the time quickly passed, and they forgot about the little girl being afraid of the dark. Finally, the mother rose to go, and when the door was opened into the street the little girl drew back in great fear, for the night had quietly spread its dark cloak over everything and all the objects she knew had taken new forms.

The Christian Scientist understood what this meant to one who was afraid. So she told the mother to remain in her house while she and the little girl took a walk, because she had some very important matters to talk over with the little girl alone.
