From Letters, Substantially as Published

A letter printed in the Indianapolis Star on July 7 last, under the heading, "Dry Law on Way Out," mentions Christian Science in a connection that is somewhat misleading.

Christian Science denies that the appetite for alcoholic drinks is normal or that attempts to satisfy it can possibly give true and lasting pleasure. Christian Science teaches that man is the image and likeness of God. As men learn this truth they find further that in reality they have but one hunger and one thirst, the hunger and thirst after righteousness; and all who are conscious of such yearnings are turning toward genuine satisfaction. This truth about real desire frees men from bondage to alcoholism, as many Christian Scientists who have been healed in this way can testify.
