From early childhood I was very frail and suffered much pain from a serious eye trouble. My parents were told by opticians and physicians whom they consulted that I should be blind before reaching young womanhood. I was ten years old when Christian Science was presented to our family, none of the members of which had ever been religiously inclined. We were burdened with many problems both physical and financial, and had nearly lost hope of any relief from them. It did not take us long to see that Christian Science held out a promise of present redemption from earthly woes. In a very short time my sister and I became attendants at a Christian Science Sunday School, and immediately our burdens began to lift. Inasmuch as all material remedies had failed to help, we discarded them. There was a rapid improvement in my health from the day I entered the Sunday school. Here I was taught the simple truths of Christian Science, so easy for the child to grasp. From the start I was taught how to study the Bible Lessons from the Christian Science Quarterly, which I did religiously each day. Now I am a living witness that these blessed Lessons prayerfully studied and pondered heal the sick, comfort the sorrowing, and reform the sinner.

A short time after I entered the Sunday school the black glasses which I had worn were removed, never to be used again. The complete healing of my eyes was a little slow, but the improvement was steady and sure. I shall never cease to be grateful for this experience, because through it I learned to watch, work, and pray; to "rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him;" and He gave me my "heart's desire." The Christian Science Sunday School has done for me just what it has done and is constantly doing for thousands of others—laying a firm foundation for the practical application of Christian Science to the problems of daily experience, here and now. During the years since the healing of my eyes many other phases of error have faded into nothingness before the light of this blessed truth. God has never failed to supply my every need when I have placed absolute reliance upon Him.

My great desire to serve the Cause has been amply rewarded during the past few years by participation in our church activities. A very happy companionship was the result of a clear realization that the only real companionship is the expression of right ideas; also a comfortable home was provided after I glimpsed what it means to dwell "in the secret place of the most High." Many times I have lifted my voice in gratitude to the Giver of all good for blessing me with loving friends and practitioners who have helped me through the wilderness of despair. Words cannot express my appreciation of Mrs. Eddy's sweet purity of thought and moral courage in revealing Christian Science to the world, whereby all mankind is comforted and blessed. My one great desire is so to live this truth that others may see the light and walk therein.
