With an honest desire to help those who need encouragement,...
With an honest desire to help those who need encouragement, and in gratitude to those who have helped me, I am sending this testimony. Thirteen years ago, when I was a young student of Christian Science, we were faced with lack of supply. For six months not a wheel turned in the mill, but I had no fear and every day felt that I was being taken care of. But as our savings gradually diminished and there were no signs of work, I saw that a blind faith would not get us very far. In the meantime I tried to gain all the understanding of Truth I could, and proved its efficacy in overcoming whooping cough in two days for our three-year-old boy. One evening it came to me that even though my husband had tried unsuccessfully to get other work, looking for supply to come through only one channel was a limited sense. While I was thinking in this way, a voice seemed to say to me quite plainly, Why don't you know the truth in connection with the mill? I proceeded to do so. Then I saw and acknowledged that God is the only Mind, the only intelligence of the universe, including man; that He governs all activity and no mortal belief has any power to stop it.
In three days the mill was working full time, and there has been a steady income ever since. This experience has been a help to me many times. It has shown me that right mental activity is always fruitful. In Proverbs we read, "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." In our textbook we read on page 427, "Immortal Mind, governing all, must be acknowledged as supreme in the physical realm, so-called, as well as in the spiritual."
Physical healings of a serious kidney trouble, curvature of the spine, and a severe case of influenza with complications have taken place in our home. I am grateful to all the faithful workers who help us along when we seem not to have enough understanding ourselves, and for the progress I have made on this journey Spiritward. I am striving so to live as to be worthy of the name "Christian Scientist."
