An article in your issue of August 31 mistakenly implied a similarity between Christian Science and a Japanese religious teaching which the item described as a derivation of Shintoism. Please permit me to state that there is no relationship between Christian Science and the teaching mentioned.

Christian Science is based on the inspired Word of the Bible. This religion accepts all the words and works of Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and heals sin, sickness, and sorrow by the spiritually mental method that he employed.

Jesus said to a group of loyal adherents, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Because Christian Scientists are following in the Master's way they are enjoying many blessings and they can sing joyously the words of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science (Poems, p. 75):

"Saw ye my Saviour? Heard ye the glad sound?
Felt ye the power of the Word?
'Twas the Truth that made us free,
And was found by you and me
In the life and the love of our Lord."
