It is a privilege to express gratitude for the many blessings...

It is a privilege to express gratitude for the many blessings Christian Science has brought into my life. While it came to me at a time of great physical need, I did not accept it for its healing promise. My first inspiration was that I had found a true sense of God. Mrs. Eddy's use of the word "Principle" as a synonym for God unfolded clearly, healing me instantaneously of a serious eye trouble of several years' standing, the verdict of two oculists having been that I was in great danger of losing my sight.

Frequent attacks of tonsillitis in a severe form, recurrences of neuralgia, biliousness, a stomach difficulty, and many other troublous aches and pains vanished during the first few weeks of study of the Christian Science textbook. One outstanding proof of Truth's healing power was the overcoming of heart trouble which had menaced my life for several years. This yielded slowly as fear was overcome. Healings have many times been instantaneous, while sometimes I have needed to work long and faithfully to purge my consciousness of erroneous thinking and besetting fears before freedom could be gained.

One afternoon while walking in the rose garden I was suddenly stricken; a dark, foreboding mental cloud seemed fast approaching. As I had learned to keep my poise under threatening conditions, I was not easily frightened. I made my way into the house, asked to be alone, went to my room, and retired. I could scarcely move by this time, and conditions seemed most alarming. I dared not ask anyone to telegraph for help, as it would arouse suspicion and great fear. I had only a moment in which to decide, as I realized delirium was fast overtaking me, so I placed myself unreservedly in God's care. A great sense of peace and security gently stole over me. I then lost consciousness, delirium following until morning, when a high fever gave way and a marked change for the better took place. By afternoon I was up and entirely free. The important point in this experience was the trust and confidence in God's presence, love, and care which I felt, and the certain redemption it brought.
