An accepted applicant for the Sanatorium of The Christian Science Benevolent Association at Chestnut Hill had been suffering from neuritis when she started her journey to the Sanatorium. She writes: "After riding all day in a bus in a heavy snow storm, I was able to sleep all night and get up and use both arms the next morning. I knew I would not take any belief of suffering in there with me, and I didn't; but I surely enjoyed the restful two weeks I spent with you.

"I was a Christian Scientist while our dear Leader was still with us, and the place just rang with the fulfillment of her desire to help humanity. ... I also appreciate your making it possible for me to visit you for the amount my husband felt able to pay, but I am longing for the day when I may be able to return the benevolence that was extended to me. I shall always remember those two weeks as a glimpse of real heaven with the simple, loving spirit of our dear Leader brooding over her fledglings."
