Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication
A short time ago a letter was received from a student of Christian Science who resides in Cuba. The letter reads in part as follows: "As you know, we have been having some troublesome times in Cuba recently, and because of the nation-wide strike were unable to hold our service for several days. I was isolated in the country near Havana, and as our telephone lines had been cut, our only contact with the world was through radio, as all bus, streetcar, and taxi lines had stopped functioning. I had managed pretty well to keep my thought clear and unafraid, but last Wednesday morning I was a bit upset and household duties seemed to keep me from doing my reading or mental work. I had the radio turned on, and suddenly or I heard a beautiful voice singing 'God Will Take Care of You,' and I stopped my work and sat down to listen to it. I had not heard the announcement that it was the Christian Science program, but I needed the message which that voice and song were giving me, so I listened. Then, to my great joy, I heard the reading of a wonderful article from our periodicals, and the final song, and I cannot tell you the uplift I received. I felt 'renewed' and the whole day was changed for me."
At Rollins College, Winter Park, there is a "Walk of Fame," so named because on both sides of the walk are stones gathered from the birthplaces of the world's greatest men and women and bearing their names. Here recognition and homage is paid to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, along with Shakespeare, Chaucer, Columbus, Washington, and Lincoln.
By invitation, and with the approval of The Christian Science Board of Directors, I addressed the student body of the University of Tampa during the past year, the subject of the address being, "Christian Science and the Life-work of Its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy." Texas.
