Your issue of December 28 contains an article on Christian Science...

English Churchman

Your issue of December 28 contains an article on Christian Science which expresses a misconception of the life and work of Mary Baker Eddy, of whom this critic seems to have no first-hand knowledge. Evidently he has taken his information from unreliable sources.

The statement, "The keyword of her whole life from start to finish is selfishness," is the reverse of the truth, for it would be hard indeed to find anyone so unselfish, loving, and kind as was the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. This I have heard from those who lived many years in her household, and who had every opportunity to know and appreciate her true life and character.

The statement that P. P. Quimby and not Mrs. Eddy was the originator of Christian Science can arise only from ignorance of the divine basis on which the teachings of Christian Science rest and the great difference between them and anything Quimby ever taught or wrote.
