While writing you a reply to the misleading letter in the Herald of November 23, I saw in another daily newspaper this quotation from an anonymous author: "The world is lifted upward and onward by those who offer encouragement more than criticism."

The letter of your correspondent misinforms readers not only about Christian Science, but about the Bible teaching which presents the real man incapable of sin: "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."

The whole third chapter of John's first epistle is a concise presentation of the fundamental truths of Christianity, which your correspondent's letter misinterprets when it claims to prove word for word, phrase for phrase, or otherwise, that Christian Science contradicts the Bible. In this chapter John begins, "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God." By reading this chapter your readers can see that when Christian Science refers to man incapable of sin, as the beloved apostle does, phrases and sentences present a sharp contrast to those which refer to erring, sinful mortals.
